Physical Health and Severe Mental Illness (SMI) – An Interim Report – January 2020

In January 2020 NHS Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (NHS DDCCG) secured funding from Health Education England (HEE) to enable us to undertake a project focusing on the physical health of people with a severe mental illness (SMI). We wanted to explore the barriers people with SMI faced when attending annual health checks and any wider barriers to staying physically well.

Within phase one of this project we used a survey, delivered both in-person and online, to investigate the barriers that people with an SMI experience in relation to their physical health.
